Also called "Aeroporto Nicelli", in operation since 1926
Set on the Venice Lido, just a few minutes by water taxi from St Mark’s Square, Nicelli Aerodrome is one of Europe’s most delightful city airports.
On a very different scale with respect to the international airport – Marco Polo – on the other side of the lagoon, it is nonetheless beautifully located and its terminal building is a strikingly handsome design dating to 1935.
Set between the lagoon, a medieval church and other historic buildings, the airport can be reached on foot, by bike or by boat.
According to the British BBC it ranks third amongst the 10 most beautiful airports in the world.
The grass runway, in perfect conditions, is 994 metres long (3,261 feet).

Inside the brightly-lit arrivals and departure lounge there are some exciting murals of 1930s aircraft by Futurist artist Tato (Guglielmo Sansoni).
